Fire Stopping Survey Checklist
What a competent firestopping intrusion survey has to cover.
Passive fire protection only works if every service penetration is sealed to the standard the building was designed to. A survey is how you find out whether that is true.
A competent intrusion survey opens up a representative sample of the building fabric rather than relying on what can be seen from a corridor. Ceiling voids, riser cupboards and plant rooms carry the majority of unsealed penetrations, and those are the areas a visual-only inspection misses.
Record every defect against its compartment line, photograph it, and reference the product and the tested system that will put it right. A survey that lists defects without naming the remedial system is not an actionable document.
